From this soil grows plants, communities, new ideas, libraries. Location: Fallbrook Library 124 S Mission Road Fallbrook, CA 92028 Inspiration:

Surrounding the outdoor Reading Garden, the layers of handmade tiles, found objects, pebbles and so on, represent the sedimentary layers of the earth. Poems and quotes screened onto tiles express the theme in words. How we live on the land and use it will eventually get recycled or reinterpreted into something new.

About the Artist: Betsy K. Schulz, BFA has provided creative design solutions and art installations for municipalities, schools, nonprofit groups, businesses, and private individuals across the nation for more than 20 years. Her work is inspired by nature and the specific history of the community. Working with hand-sculpted tiles and found objects, she includes poems, historic information, and captions – public art that’s meant to be touched.
