Fallbrook has a long history of association with the arts. A study in 2004 by Destination Development determined that "Art should become a priority" in our village. A popular Western art show, successful Wildlife art show, and a large community of artists made it clear that art could play a major role in the revitalization of the Village. In 1996 the Harrison Pharmacy at the crossroads of the downtown was purchased by the Fallbrook Village Association, and it was turned into the Art and Cultural Center at Fallbrook. Fallbrook may be the only town with a soda fountain in its art center! In 1999, further down Alvarado Street, the old train station became the Fallbrook School of Arts forming an Arts Corridor anchored by the new Fallbrook Library at the opposite end of the street. The library contains many installations by local artists. Fallbrook Arts, Inc. has become a separate 501(c)3 organization which manages and supports the Fallbrook Art Center, the Fallbrook School of the Arts, Fallbrook Art in Public Places, Fallbrook Arts Alliance, and Brandon Gallery. In 2008 Fallbrook Arts, Inc. was included in the book Art Towns of California.
